In 2023, Solano County recorded 2,868 traffic collision victims killed or injured, placing it roughly 16th out of 58 California counties for fatal and injury collisions according to the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). This includes 330 alcohol-involved incidents, 657 speed-related collisions, 318 nighttime crashes, and 278 hit-and-run events. Vulnerable road users were significantly affected, with 153 motorcycle, 140 pedestrian, and 98 bicyclist victims reported. Pedestrian injuries included 12 children under 15 and 21 seniors 65 and older. Compared with 2022, when there were 2,905 killed or injured in collisions, the 2023 figures show similar high levels of traffic harm with persistent issues involving alcohol, speed, and nighttime driving. Solano County’s collision rates consistently highlight challenges with road safety, particularly for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, and underline the need for targeted safety interventions and enforcement.
