Long Beach, CA. — 37-year-old Amber Mitchell was struck and killed by a vehicle late Wednesday night while crossing a street in Long Beach, authorities reported.

The collision happened around 10:25 p.m. at East Anaheim Street and Alamitos Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers arrived to find the lying in the roadway.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

The County Medical Examiner identified the woman as Mitchell.

Police said she was crossing outside a crosswalk when she was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet Sierra traveling west on Anaheim Street.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

LBPD said speed, impairment, and distraction do not appear to be factors in the crash.
