Amador County, CA – A man from Lodi was killed in a bicycle collision that took place in Amador County last week on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at around 3:10 p.m. January 19, on Buena Vista Road near Camanche Parkway North.
According to investigators, a bicyclist was heading northbound on Buena Vista Road when he tried to make a left turn at Camanche Parkway North and was struck by a northbound Corolla that tried to overtake the rider.
The CHP officers and emergency crews responded to the scene and and attended to the rider. Despite life-saving measures, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities identified the bicycle rider as Dr. Bennie Weber, 78, of Lodi. The driver of the Corolla was identified as a 30-year-old Rancho Cordova man.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident.
