According investigators, a pickup truck traveling west on East California Avenue lost control and slammed through a fence

Bakersfield, CA.– The boy who was critically injured in an accident involving a suspected DUI motorist in East Bakersfield Monday afternoon has succumbed to his injuries, according to Bakersfield police.
The incident was reported at about 12:09 p.m. November 3, in the 1400 block of East California Avenue near Haley Street.
According investigators, a pickup truck traveling west on East California Avenue lost control and slammed through a fence.
The truck drove into a parking lot, where it hit a father and his 8-year-old son near a food truck.
The boy suffered critical injuries while the father had moderate injuries. They were both rushed to a hospital, where the boy died on Tuesday morning.
The truck driver, Andres Serna, 33, was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
He faces multiple charges including second-degree murder, DUI causing injury, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and attempted hit-and-run.
The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
