Chula Vista, CA. – A 77-year-old man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a car in Chula Vista, according to authorities.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 600 block of L Street.
Responding officers and paramedics found the pedestrian unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police said the driver, also a 77-year-old man, was traveling eastbound in a gray 2014 Toyota Corolla when he hit the victim, who was in the roadway.
The driver was not injured and remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities added that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have played a role in the crash.
The Chula Vista Police Department's Traffic Bureau is leading the investigation and asks anyone with information to call 619-476-5321.
