Fremont, CA.- An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed by vehicles in Fremont on Tuesday morning, according to a report by the Fremont Police Department.

The incident was reported just after 5 a.m. on August 12, on Paseo Padre Parkway and Mowry Avenue.

Police reported that a 76-year-old Fremont man was trying to walk across Paseo Padre Parkway mid-block while pushing a shopping cart when he was hit by a northbound car.

Shortly after, the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle.

The pedestrian was killed in the accident.

The first driver reportedly left the scene after the crash but returned shortly after.

According to the police, impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
