60-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit by Car in Escondido

Escondido, CA. – A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Thursday evening while crossing the street midblock in Escondido, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 7:35 p.m. on El Norte Parkway near West Country Club Lane, according to Escondido police.

Police said the man was walking across the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

He died at the scene before paramedics could transport him to a hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

 Authorities said that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors.
