Fresno, CA – Four people, including two CHP officers, were injured in a suspected DUI collision early Sunday morning on Highway 41 in Fresno.
According to California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on the northbound State Route 41, just south of Ashlan Avenue.
Reports revealed a unit was conducting a traffic stop on a Chevy Equinox when the car stopped at the far right lane, and the patrol vehicle followed.
The patrol vehicle still had its overhead lights on. A Honda Accord driven by 28-year-old Jacob Perry approached the patrol vehicle from behind in the far right lane and failed to see the CHP vehicle, resulting in a rear-end crash.
The crash pushed the patrol vehicle forward into the Chevy, causing a spinout with all three cars in the northbound lanes.
They say the driver of the Honda was not injured but his passenger, a 26-year-old woman sustained major injuries.
The driver of the Chevy suffered minor injuries, while both CHP officers sustained only moderate injuries.
Everyone involved was taken to a local hospital for medical care and all are expected to be okay.
Perry was arrested for felony DUI and he will be booked into the Fresno County Jail once he is medically cleared.
No additional information about the collision was provided.
An investigation is underway.
