Antioch, CA. – Four people were hospitalized after a crash that left a big rig overturned in traffic lanes Tuesday morning in Antioch, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident occurred around 8:08 a.m. on eastbound State Route 4 over Contra Loma Boulevard.
A semi-truck and three black sedans were involved in the crash. The big rig overturned onto its side, blocking traffic lanes.
Contra Costa firefighters responded to the scene and helped four people who were injured in the accident.
One patient was taken to Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center, another person was transported to Sutter Delta Medical Center, and two others were taken to John Muir Walnut Creek Medical Center. The victims suffered unspecified injuries.
A SigAlert was issued closing eastbound SR-4 at Contra Loma Boulevard to allow crews to upright the semi-truck and remove the vehicles from the scene.
The closure lasted for several hours. All lanes were back open at 12:30 p.m.
