Coachella, CA. – Three people were injured, one of them critically, in a multi-vehicle collision that took place Saturday afternoon at an intersection in Coachella.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the pileup occurred around 2 p.m. at Avenue 50 and Van Buren Street.
Authorities responded to the scene and found three vehicles involved in the accident.
One person was trapped inside one of the cars and required extrication.
That person was freed and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Two others were also hospitalized with minor injuries.
The collision also knocked down power lines. Cal Fire requested the Imperial Irrigation District to fix the damage.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
