, CA. – A 15-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured Friday morning following two collisions involving a group of juveniles in East Oakland, authorities reported.

The first collision happened around 9:40 a.m. near 14th Avenue and East 31st Street, where a Toyota Corolla carrying five teens struck another vehicle and fled the scene.

According to investigators, the 16-year-old unlicensed driver of the Corolla merged onto eastbound Interstate 580 after the collision, with the other driver following the car and alerting police.

The suspect exited at 35th Avenue and continued south at a high rate of speed before colliding with another vehicle in the 3300 block of 35th Avenue.

The impact sent the Corolla into a concrete wall.

All five occupants of the Corolla were taken to hospitals.

The 15-year-old female passenger in the rear seat died shortly after the crash.

The driver was hospitalized in critical but stable condition and later arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, authorities said.

The conditions of the other three teens remained unknown.

The Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Section is investigating the incident.
