Poway, CA. – A 12-year-old was hospitalized Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Poway, authorities reported.

Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene just before 8:30 a.m. on the 14100 block of Twin Peaks Road, east of the Espola Road intersection.

According to investigators, a westbound vehicle hit the child as he ran across the street.

Emergency crews transported the 12-year-old to Rady Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
