San Diego County, CA. – One person died, and three others were seriously injured in a suspected DUI accident that happened early Sunday morning in the Pala area of San Diego County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 1:45 a.m. on State Route 76 near Magee Road.
Authorities said 21-year-old Antonio Albert Gonzalez III was driving a white Dodge Durango when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and spun into the opposing traffic lane.
The Dodge collided head-on with a Honda Civic driven by a 54-year-old Apple Valley man.
The wreck left the right-front passenger of the Honda dead.
The driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old passenger in the Dodge, and Gonzalez III were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.
The report said Gonzalez III was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was expected to face several charges, including felony driving under the influence, felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and homicide-related charges.
