San Diego County, CA. – One person died when an SUV went off-road and hit a tree Monday afternoon in Pala, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on State Route 76 at Pala Mission Road.
Authorities said, for an unknown reason, a Ford Mustang veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree near Pala Casino.
The tree was toppled in the crash, ending up lying on top of the car.
One person was killed in the crash.
The collision is under investigation.
