Police said an SUV and a sedan collided in the area of Franklin Boulevard near Sunmeadow Drive

Sacramento, CA.- One person was killed in a suspected DUI accident in Sacramento early Monday morning, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The incident took place on Franklin Boulevard near Sunmeadow Drive at about 12:45 a.m.

Police said an SUV and a sedan collided in the area under unclear circumstances.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, was detained for suspected DUI.

Roads were shut down in the area as a result of the accident.

The incident remained under investigation.
