According to the CHP, a white Ford Explorer collided head-on with a gray Ford Mustang on the westbound side of the highway

Rancho Mission Viejo, CA.- One person was killed in a car accident in the Rancho Mission Viejo area on Saturday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident took place in the 35900 block of Ortega (74) Highway near Ronald W. Caspers Regional Park at about 3 p.m. September 6.
According to the CHP, a white Ford Explorer collided head-on with a gray Ford Mustang on the westbound side of the highway.
The impact sent the white Ford off the highway and down an embankment.
The injured parties were transported to Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Both directions of the highway were shut down for over one hour as authorities investigated the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
