, CA – One person was killed and four others were injured early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle collision in La , according to the authorities.

The fatal collision happened around 4:30 a.m. on October 26 in the northbound lanes of State Route 125 at the intersection of Spring Street.

CHP said a person was driving a Nissan Sentra, with a 26-year-old passenger, heading northbound on the freeway while a 2007 Mercedes E350 with three passengers was stopped at the right shoulder of the freeway at the intersection.

For unknown reasons, the Nissan driver drove onto the right shoulder and rear-ended the Mercedes.

The Nissan came to a stop on the freeway, blocking multiple lanes.

A 2022 Ford Edge was unable to stop and crashed into the Nissan.

A person in the Nissan fled the scene on foot after the accident.

The other passenger in the Nissan died at the scene.

The driver and passengers of the Mercedes were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Ford driver was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the accident. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the incident is asked to call the California Highway Patrol, Area Office.
