Oxnard, CA – A 49-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after colliding with a car Thursday evening at an intersection in Oxnard, the Oxnard Police Department reported.

The accident was reported around 8:30 p.m. on October 8, 2026, at East 5th Street and Richmond Avenue.

Oxnard police reported that 25-year-old Cristian Guido of Oxnard was driving a 2023 Honda Accord westbound on 5th Street when he suddenly observed a cyclist riding across the westbound lanes of traffic. Guido swerved to avoid a collision but still hit the cyclist.

The occupants of the car remained at the scene.

Speed, drugs, and alcohol did not appear to be contributing factors.
