Temecula, CA – One person was sent to the hospital with major injuries after a traffic collision that happened Friday night in Temecula.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 10:46 p.m. on October 9, 2026, on 38042 State Route 79 near Vail Oak Road.
The collision was first reported to authorities as a two-car crash involving a silver Mercedes van and a white Toyota Corolla, but moments later, the authorities were informed that a pedestrian was walking in the middle of the road when they were hit.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found at least one person with serious injuries. It was unclear if the victim was the pedestrian or an occupant in one of the cars.
Both lanes of the highway were closed for about 40 minutes following the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
