Phoenix, AZ – A woman was struck and severely injured by a vehicle while riding a scooter on Monday afternoon in Phoenix, the Phoenix Police Department reported.
The incident occurred on 21st Avenue near Northern Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. October 5.
According to the police, a woman on a mobility scooter was trying to cross the road when she was hit by a car. The woman was in the crosswalk but attempted to cross against a traffic signal.
Phoenix police and the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the site of the collision shortly after.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene after the incident.
It’s unclear whether impairment played any role in the collision.
The crash remained under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
