Hayward, CA – A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon after colliding with a white box truck on eastbound State Route 92 in Hayward, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 12:06 p.m. on the eastbound SR-92 transition to northbound I-880.
Investigators were told that the motorcycle rider had been lane-splitting when he collided with a Fresh Point delivery truck. The motorcycle rider was found lying in the roadway and was reported to be blocking the middle lanes. The CHP log also indicated that the rider may have been run over by another vehicle.
The rider, a 60-year-old man, was taken to the hospital where he died. His name has not been released.
The crash blocked multiple lanes, including the express lane and Lane 1. By about 12:52 p.m., Lane 1 had reopened while the HOV lane remained blocked.
The crash remains under investigation.
