According to the Kelso Police Department, the accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. September 29, in the 1100 block of Wood Avenue.

Kelso, WA – Authorities are investigating an incident where a train struck and killed a pedestrian in Kelso on Tuesday night.

According to the Kelso Police Department, the accident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. September 29, in the 1100 block of Wood Avenue.

Authorities reported that a northbound BNSF train struck a man on the tracks. It’s unclear why the pedestrian was on the tracks when the incident happened.

Police and firefighters with the Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and located the pedestrian on an embankment near the tracks.

The victim was declared deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

The cause of the deadly accident is under investigation.
