East Palo Alto, CA – Authorities have identified the man and woman who died in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday morning at an intersection in East Palo Alto.

The pileup took place around 8:20 a.m. on September 29, 2026, at Bay Road and University Avenue.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the East Palo Alto Police Department, McGee was driving a minivan when, for an unknown reason, he crashed into six vehicles.
McGee was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, Cupil, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. She later died at the hospital while receiving treatment.
Three other people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

East Palo Alto, CA – Two people were killed and at least three others were injured Tuesday morning in a multi-vehicle wreck on Bay Road in East Palo Alto.
The crash happened at approximately 8:20 a.m. near the intersection of Bay Road and University Avenue, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the minivan struck six vehicles, including a SamTrans Ride Plus van.
The man operating the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman who was a passenger in the minivan was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
At least three other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the seven-vehicle crash.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the collision.
