A report by the California Highway Patrol indicates that a 61-year-old Watsonville man was driving a 2000 GMC pickup northbound on Corralitos Road when he tried to make a left turn onto Merk Road and crashed with a southbound 2004 Yamaha motorcycle.
Santa Cruz County, CA – The man who was killed in a collision that happened in Santa Cruz County earlier this month has been identified.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Connor Wildey, 23, of Scotts Valley, was killed in the incident that took place on Merk and Corralitos roads at around 7:01 a.m. September 23.

Wildey was riding the motorcycle and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Authorities reported that Wildey was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the pickup was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not believed to have played a role in the incident, the CHP reported.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
