Benson, AZ – An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper sustained serious injuries in a crash on Interstate 10 near Benson early Monday morning.
The crash occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on September 28 on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 302.
Authorities said the collision involved a DPS patrol vehicle and a semi-truck. The semi-truck caught fire following the impact.
The trooper was transported to a hospital with significant injuries, DPS said. The patient’s identity has not been released. The semi-truck driver was not injured.
The cause of the collision has not been determined, and investigators have not released additional details about how the crash occurred.
The crash forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Benson, and the roadway remained closed for several hours while crews worked at the scene.
