A Fresno police vehicle was stopped blocking traffic on northbound Friant Avenue when a northbound vehicle failed to stop and slammed into the police car.
Fresno, CA – A police officer was injured in a collision involving a suspected DUI motorist near an intersection in Fresno on Tuesday night, according to the authorities.
The wreck took place near Friant Avenue and Lakeview Drive at about 11:15 p.m. September 22.
A Fresno police vehicle was stopped blocking traffic on northbound Friant Avenue when a northbound vehicle failed to stop and slammed into the police car. The police vehicle had its emergency lights activated at the time of the collision.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and helped extricate the officer from the vehicle. The officer was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The other driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into Fresno County Jail.
The accident remained under investigation.
