Benton County, WA- Man Killed in Motorcycle Collision on State Route 397 Identified

An investigation revealed that Jackie Thatcher, 29, of Kennewick, was driving an Isuzu Trooper northbound on SR 397 when Thatcher tried to make a westbound turn onto Perkins Road and collided with a southbound motorcycle.

Benton County, WA – Authorities have released the identities of the people involved in a deadly crash that occurred in Benton County on Saturday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at about 8:20 p.m. September 12, on State Route 397 at Perkins Road, near milepost 14.

An investigation revealed that Jackie Thatcher, 29, of Kennewick, was driving an Isuzu Trooper northbound on SR 397 when Thatcher tried to make a westbound turn onto Perkins Road and collided with a southbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclist rider, identified as Lyle Mineer III, 36, of Kennewick, was declared deceased at the site of the accident.

A passenger on the motorcycle, 22-year-old Laurana Hechinger-Vantine, also of Kennewick, was transported to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

Thatcher and a passenger in the Isuzu, 36-year-old Correy Tallman, of Kennewick, were both uninjured in the crash.

According to WSP, both motorcyclists were wearing their helmets at the time of the collision.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the incident. However, Thatcher was cited for failure to yield.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
