Sherman Oaks, CA – One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 405 Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:16 a.m. Wednesday on southbound San Diego (405) Freeway near the US 101 interchange in Sherman Oaks, according to the CHP incident log.
One person was pronounced deceased in the collision. The identity of the victim was not immediately released. No information was provided about additional injuries.
CHP officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene and established a hard closure. Traffic was diverted toward Burbank while authorities investigated the crash.
By approximately 12:12 p.m., the No. 3 and No. 4 lanes had reopened. Crews continued working at the scene while the remaining closure was managed. A SigAlert was later canceled, and the roadway was eventually cleared.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation.
