Ohio Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on State Route 163 in San Diego

San Diego, CA – A 22-year-old Ohio man died after he hit a guardrail, went down into traffic lanes, and got hit by two cars Monday night in San Diego, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on August 23, 2026, on northbound State Route 163, south of Robinson Street.

According to authorities, the Ohio resident was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when, for an unknown reason, he struck the center median guardrail and fell onto the roadway.

The rider was then struck by a Tesla Model Y driven by a 25-year-old man and a Toyota Camry driven by a 48-year-old man.

The motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in the accident.

The drivers of both cars remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors on their side.

CHP San Diego Area is investigating the cause of the accident.
