Oxnard, CA – A 40-year-old man was hospitalized with severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning at an intersection in Oxnard.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the accident was reported around 4:58 a.m. on August 16, 2026, at Oxnard Boulevard and Ninth Street.
Patrol officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
The officers found a 40-year-old man lying on the northbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard and a 2001 Toyota Camry stopped in the area.
The officers performed lifesaving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived and took over. The pedestrian was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Traffic investigators took over the investigation and determined that the car was traveling northbound on Oxnard Boulevard when the man attempted to cross from the east sidewalk to the west sidewalk of Oxnard and got hit.
The driver of the vehicle cooperated with the investigators and did not show any signs of impairment.
