According to the Oregon State Police, the incident took place on Highway 30 at Valley Creek Lane, near milepost 80 at around 12:40 p.m. on August 18.

Clatsop County, OR – Investigations are underway into a multi-vehicle collision that claimed the life of an elderly man near Astoria in Clatsop County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident took place on Highway 30 at Valley Creek Lane, near milepost 80 at around 12:40 p.m. on August 18.
Authorities reported that Benny Parker, 86, of Astoria, was driving a tan Chevy Malibu east on Highway 30 when he stopped to make a turn onto Valley Creek Lane.
Shortly after, the Malibu was struck from behind by a gray Ford F-350. The Malibu was forced into the westbound lane, where it was then hit by a silver Honda Accord that was headed west.
Parker was ejected from his vehicle and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The other two motorists were transported with severe injuries.
An investigation by the Oregon State Police is still ongoing.
