Sacramento, CA. – Dionicio Romero Flores, 34, has been identified as the man who died after a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians who were standing along eastbound Highway 50 in Sacramento on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported around 11:36 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50, just beyond the Highway 99 transition near 34th Street.

CHP said four people had exited a vehicle and were standing on the right shoulder after the vehicle experienced a blown-out tire when they were hit by a passing vehicle.

Dionicio, a resident of Rancho Cordova, was killed in the accident.

The circumstances that caused the passing vehicle to hit the pedestrians have not been determined. No information regarding an arrest was provided.

The No. 3 and No. 4 eastbound lanes, along with the 34th Street off-ramp, were closed as authorities worked at the scene. The collision caused significant traffic restrictions on eastbound Highway 50 during the overnight hours.
