The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. near Highway 20 and Lakeland Street in Clearlake Oaks.

Clearlake Oaks, CA – A 67-year-old Clearlake Oaks man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Highway 20 Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. near Highway 20 and Lakeland Street in Clearlake Oaks.
According to CHP, the pedestrian was crossing Highway 20 west of Lakeland Street outside a marked crosswalk. He was walking in a northwesterly direction from the southern edge of the highway toward the north side when he was struck by a westbound 2015 Hyundai, driven by 82-year-old Arthur Franklin Burr Jr. of Lucerne.
After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle continued off the roadway and crashed into a lamppost along the north sidewalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after CHP officers arrived at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
Burr suffered moderate injuries but was not transported to a hospital. His passenger, 69-year-old Tena Marie Pardini, also of Lucerne, sustained minor injuries and was treated at Adventist Health.
Burr remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The CHP investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said appropriate charges will be filed.
