The fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:41 p.m. Monday near Pleasant Valley Road and Sunny Hills Lane.
Vacaville, CA – A 67-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by a passing vehicle shortly after stopping her car along Pleasant Valley Road in Vacaville, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:41 p.m. Monday near Pleasant Valley Road and Sunny Hills Lane.
According to CHP, the woman was driving a Honda northbound on Pleasant Valley Road when she pulled onto the right shoulder for reasons that remain under investigation. She activated her hazard lights, exited the vehicle, and crossed to the west side of the roadway.
Investigators said the woman later entered or remained in the southbound lane of Pleasant Valley Road for unknown reasons. She was struck by a southbound Mitsubishi driven by a 42-year-old man who had his wife and son as passengers.
The woman was found in the roadway when officers arrived, and life-saving measures were attempted. Vacaville Fire Department paramedics pronounced her dead at approximately 8:53 p.m. The woman’s name has not been released.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
