Sierra Vista, AZ – A pickup truck driver suffered life-threatening injuries after colliding with a tow truck Tuesday morning at an intersection in Sierra Vista, authorities reported.
According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, the wreck occurred around 11 a.m. on July 28, 2026, on Highway 92 at Buffalo Soldier Trail.
The crash involved a white Chevrolet pickup truck and a tow truck.
According to Sierra Vista PD, the driver of the pickup truck was turning left from northbound Highway 92 onto Buffalo Soldier Trail when they ran a red light.
The pickup truck collided with the tow truck, which was heading south on Highway 92.
Emergency personnel airlifted the pickup truck driver to a Tucson hospital for treatment of severe life-threatening injuries.
The tow truck driver was evaluated at the scene and released.
The intersection remained closed to allow a medical helicopter to land and as investigators worked the scene. The lanes were back open at 1 p.m.
