Los Angeles, CA – A 16-year-old boy died after he collided with an SUV while riding a homemade e-bike Wednesday morning near an intersection in Van Nuys.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on July 22, 2026, near Roscoe Boulevard and Noble Avenue.
Los Angeles police reported that the teenager was riding a makeshift e-bike that had an engine similar to what lawnmowers use when he reportedly cut across two lanes and collided with an SUV.
The boy sustained fatal injuries and died in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
The SUV driver told authorities that they did not see the rider in time to avoid a crash.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
