Investigations revealed that John Platt, 67, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the higwhay when he attempted to pass a Peterbilt semi-truck that was trying to make a left turn

Malheur County, OR – A 67-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle collision that happened in Malheur County on Saturday morning.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident happened on Highway 20 near milepost 255 on Saturday, July 18.
Investigations revealed that John Platt, 67, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the higwhay when he attempted to pass a Peterbilt semi-truck that was trying to make a left turn. The rider crashed into the driver’s side of the turning rig.
OSP reported that Platt was declared deceased at the scene following the crash. A passenger on the motorcycle, identified as Yolanda Platt, 70, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The big rig was driven by Victor Pena-Olvera, 24, who was not harmed in the accident.
The crash impacted the highway for nearly two as authorities worked to clear the scene. An investigation by the Oregon State Police is still ongoing.
