The San Diego Police Department reported that the victim was attempting to cross the street mid-block when he was hit by a 2010 Volkswagen Routan van.
Kearny Mesa, CA– The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street in Kearny Mesa earlier this month.
The accident occurred in the early morning hours of July 5, in the 7400 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, near Convoy Street.
The San Diego Police Department reported that the victim was attempting to cross the street mid-block when he was hit by a 2010 Volkswagen Routan van.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene. He was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Rashad Pierce, 42. His city of residence was not specified in the report.
The driver of the van, a 42-year-old woman, stayed at the scene after the accident.
Authorities reported that alcohol and/or drugs were not believed to have factored in the incident.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
