Tucson, AZ – 34-year-old Alejandro Daniel Ruiz Leon died, and his passenger was seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck early Sunday morning at an intersection in Tucson.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that the accident occurred on July 5, 2026, at South Cardinal Avenue and West Valencia Road.
Authorities said Leon and his female passenger were riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Valencia Road when the bike struck a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was making a left turn from the eastbound lanes.
Leon and his passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Leon later died while receiving treatment at the facility.
The female passenger remained hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers said Leon was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, but the passenger was wearing one.
The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were evaluated for injuries at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Investigators are working to establish the factors that contributed to the accident, including the possibility of speeding and impairment by Leon.
