Barstow, CA – A 65-year-old Phelan man died after a motorcycle crash involving a tractor-trailer on Wednesday evening on the southbound 15 Freeway in Barstow.
The grisly wreck happened on July 1, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 15, south of Barstow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Barstow Area office.
Investigators revealed that the 65-year-old man was riding a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle in the No. 3 lane of the southbound freeway near a tractor-trailer combination vehicle.
For unknown reasons, the rider began changing lanes from the No. 3 lane into the No. 2 lane, which was occupied by another vehicle.
The rider then made a steering movement to the right, causing the motorcycle to strike the left rear portion of the tractor-trailer.
The impact ejected the rider from the motorcycle, and he came to rest in the No.2 . Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the collision.
CHP said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been contributing factors.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Division.

Barstow, CA – A motorcyclist died in a traffic collision that happened Wednesday evening on the 15 Freeway in Barstow, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to CHP logs, the accident took place around 6:32 p.m. on July 1, 2026, on the southbound 15 Freeway near State Route 247.
A motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in the crash.
Barstow firefighters and paramedics responded and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The coroner’s office was notified about the fatality.
The Nos. 2, 3 and the slow lane were closed following the accident. The lanes were reopened at 7:35 p.m.
