According to the California Highway Patrol, around 3 p.m. on July 2, 2026, the man was driving a dark green Toyota Camry westbound on Nicolaus Road near Canal Road, and at the same time, a white Tesla Model 3 was heading eastbound on the same road.

Placer County, CA – A 61-year-old man from Lincoln died in a head-on collision that happened Thursday afternoon on Nicolaus Road in Placer County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, around 3 p.m. on July 2, 2026, the man was driving a dark green Toyota Camry westbound on Nicolaus Road near Canal Road, and at the same time, a white Tesla Model 3 was heading eastbound on the same road.
Authorities said that based on evidence collected at the scene, they believe the Toyota crossed over the double yellow lines into the path of the Tesla, resulting in a head-on collision.
The Lincoln man died in the accident.
The driver of the Tesla was hospitalized with minor injuries.
According to CHP Auburn, there was no independent witness to the crash. The officers towed both cars to help them in their investigation.
