Jackson County, OR – An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Phoenix neighborhood in Jackson County on Wednesday evening.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred in the 4400 of South Pacific Highway at about 7:04 p.m. June 24.

Investigations revealed that an 81-year-old woman was hit by a 2019 Toyota Tundra at a business parking lot in the area. Details on what led up to the collision were not immediately available.

Emergency crews and witnesses  attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian but the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her identity was not released.

The driver of the Toyota, a 62-year-old man from Medford, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.

No further details on the collision were immediately provided. The Phoenix Police Department is conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.
