Fresno, CA. – 57-year-old Ding Li has been identified as the woman who died in a chain-reaction collision on Wednesday afternoon in Fresno.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 12 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Jayne Avenue.

A 2025 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling traveling about 60 mph was approaching stopped traffic when the driver failed to stop in time and struck a 2022 Mazda CX-5.

The impact pushed the Mazda into the rear of a 2016 Toyota Tundra, pushing it into the center median where it became disabled.

The Freightliner continued forward and struck the rear of a 2024 Mercedes E350 before jackknifing.

57-year-old Ding Li was killed in the accident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
