Preliminary reports indicate that a motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Baseline Road when he collided with a Chevrolet Camaro that pulled out into his path.
Tempe, AZ – A motorcyclist who was killed after colliding with another vehicle on Baseline Road in Tempe on Saturday night has been identified.
The Tempe Police identified the deceased rider as 20-year-old Isaac Wielander.
The deadly crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. on June 20 in the area of Baseline Road and Mill Avenue, near Kiwanis Park.
Investigators said the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro, identified as Wilson Martin Chavez, 23, failed to yield when exiting Kiwanis Park and crashed into an eastbound motorcycle operated by Wielander.
Wielander was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Chavez and his passenger were not injured. Police said Chavez showed signs of intoxication and was arrested. He was arrested and later released after being booked into the city jail pending multiple charges.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene within minutes and found the motorcyclist with major injuries. The rider was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The two occupants of the Camaro were not injured in the accident. The identities of the involved parties were not immediately released.
According to Tempe police, the driver of the Camaro showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody. The driver is reportedly facing multiple charges.
