According to the authorities, the incident took place at around 9:00 p.m. on June 8, in the area of Loop 202 Santan Freeway at State Route 24.

A Mesa police officer was reportedly riding a motorcycle near the intersection when they got into a crash with another vehicle. The circumstances under which the incident happened were still under investigation.

Authorities reported that the officer was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The other involved motorist was not injured in the accident.
