The Kern County Coroner’s Office did not publicly disclose the identity of the woman.

Bakersfield, CA. – A woman died in a crash involving a suspect who was being pursued by the police in Bakersfield on Wednesday morning.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident happened around 8:07 a.m. on East Panama Lane at Tejon Highway.
Officers responded to assist the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force with a traffic stop involving 18-year-old Ramiro Gutierrez-Ramos who had a felony warrant and was believed to be driving a stolen vehicle.
Gutierrez-Ramos failed to yield and sped off eastbound on Panama Lane and a pursuit ensued.
Police say Gutierrez-Ramos failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a second car.
The woman driving the second car suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she later died.

Gutierrez-Ramos and the passenger tried to run on foot but were apprehended a short time later.
