Salem, OR – A minor was struck and killed by a vehicle on Lancaster Drive Southeast in Marion County on Tuesday evening.

According to a report by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened near State Street east of Salem at around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.

Initial reports indicate that a car hit a minor in the Four Corners area. The circumstances under which the juvenile was struck were not immediately established.

The authorities reported that the minor was declared deceased at the scene. The report indicates that the victim was a 14-year-old boy from the Salem area.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim was at the scene when authorities arrived and reportedly cooperated with the investigators. There were no arrests announced in connection with the collision.

The accident led to the closure of Lancaster Drive Southeast for three hours as authorities investigated the incident.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation to ascertain the cause of the deadly crash.
