Oro Grande, CA – One Person Killed in Head-On Crash on National Trails Highway

Oro Grande, CA – One person was killed, and two others were injured following a head-on collision on National Trails Highway in Oro Grande on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:56 a.m. on May 13, 2026, on National Trails Highway west of Robinson Ranch Road.

Investigators said a burgundy Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling northbound collided head-on with a dark-colored Chevrolet Suburban traveling southbound.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the male driver of the Chevrolet Suburban trapped inside the SUV with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger riding in the Suburban was extricated from the wreckage by firefighters and transported to St. Mary Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram was also extricated from the wreckage and was airlifted for treatment after suffering injuries in the collision.

Firefighters, paramedics, and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene to assist victims and conduct the on-scene investigation. A medical helicopter was requested to transport one of the injured patients from Victor Valley Global Medical Center.

The collision caused major traffic disruptions in the area, forcing the closure of National Trails Highway in both directions for several hours. Traffic control personnel assisted with the extended closure, while the Victor Valley Transit Authority announced that Route 22 service to the Helendale area was temporarily suspended due to the crash.

The cause of the head-on crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Victorville Station.
