Preliminary reports indicate that a Hyundai was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when it collided with a motorized bike rider who failed to stop for a red light while entering the intersection from Biggs East Highway

Butte County, CA – A man died at a hospital after being hit by a vehicle while riding a motorized bicycle on Highway 99 near Biggs in Butte County Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 4 p.m. on May 11, near Biggs East Highway.
Preliminary reports indicate that a Hyundai was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when it collided with a motorized bike rider who failed to stop for a red light while entering the intersection from Biggs East Highway.
According to investigators, the rider was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from his bike onto the roadway.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was later declared deceased. His name was not immediately released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and reportedly cooperated with the investigators. There were no arrests announced in connection with the collision.
The California Highway Patrol is expected to release further details on the accident once their investigation is concluded.
