Garcia was a passenger on a moped that was struck by a truck traveling westbound on Bullard Avenue.
Garcia’s cousin, Dominiq Puentes, was riding the moped and died in the accident.
Paramedics transported Garcia to the hospital with critical injuries, including a severed leg and a broken femur. His family created a GoFundMe page to help them raise funds to meet his medical expenses and therapy costs. According to the page, doctors had to amputate Garcia’s leg to save his life. He remained hospitalized.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Fresno, CA – The 13-year-old boy who was killed in a crash involving a motorized scooter at an intersection in Fresno Friday night has been identified.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased teen rider as Dominiq Puentes of Fresno.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Bullard and Palm avenues at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, according to Fresno police.
Police said Puentes was riding a motorized scooter with a 12-year-old passenger when the crash occurred. Police said a truck was traveling westbound on Bullard Avenue when it entered the intersection at Palm Avenue and collided with the scooter.
Puentes sustained fatal injuries and later died after being transported to a hospital. The 12-year-old passenger was hospitalized in critical condition. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests were reported.
Authorities said drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
Officers arrived to what was described as a chaotic scene and immediately rendered aid to the victims before they were transported for treatment.
The crash led to the closure of the intersection for several hours as investigators examined the scene and canvassed the area for surveillance footage.
